Four new heteroatomic pentalenes have been synthetised by reductive cyclisation with triethylphosphite of the appropriate nitropyridylbenzotriazoles or nitrophenyltriazolo pyridines: the pyridino benzo-1,3a,6,6a-tetraazapentalene 2 ; pyridino benzo-1,3a,6,6a-tetraazapentalene 3 ; and pyridino benzo-1,3a,4,6a-tetraazapentalene 5,6.The spectral properties of these new compounds are described.
