The present invention provides a novel organometallic complex which emi green phosphorescence so as to enrich variations of phosphorescent materials for gree color which is one of three primary colors. An organometallic complex comprising structure represented by a general formula (Gl) is provided. In the formula, R represents an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and R2 and R3 individually represent hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms. In addition, R4 to R7 individually represent an electron-withdrawing group, hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms. Note that at least one of R to R7 represents an electron-withdrawing group. In addition, M is a central metal and represents either an element belonging to Group 9 in the periodic table or an element belonging to Group 10 in the periodic table.
