The bimolecular photoreactions of the chiral cyclenone-3-carboxylates 2-5 with the optical active ketene acetal 6 cause in each case a double induction for the resulting cyclobutane derivatives 13-16.This induction is indeed either a "matched" (increase of diastereoselectivity) or "mismatched" (decrease of diastereoselectivity) in analogy to the experience in ground state reactions.
