Full title: Transition-metal-substitued diphosphenes. 10. Reaction of the diphosphenyl complex (η5-C5Me5)(CO)2FeP=PAr (Ar = 2,4,6-t-Bu3C6H2) with sulfur and selenium. Preparation and X-ray structure analysis of the first phosphinidene(thioxo)phosphoranyl complex (η5-C5Me5)(CO)2FeP(=S)=PAr. The reaction of (η5-C5Me5)(CO)2FeP=PAr with sulfur and selenium in THF at 20°C afforded the novel complexes (η5-C5Me5)(CO)2FeP(=E)=PAr with a ligand formally derived from the metaphosphite ion PO2-. Only the sulfur derivative appeared to be stable at ambient temperature, whereas the selenium compound in solution slowly rearranged to the selenadiphosphiranyl complex (η5-C5Me5)(CO)2FeP-Se-PAr. The structure of the sulfur derivative was established by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction study.
