The invention discloses 1-nitro-2,4-m-dibenzyl thiol, a preparation method thereof and application of 1-nitro-2,4-m-dibenzyl thiol in light-sensitive thiol reagents. 1-nitro-2,4-m-dibenzyl thiol is mainly prepared from m-xylylene dibromide, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, thiourea and sodium metabisulfite, and after a series of reactions, namely nitration, substitution and reduction deprotection, the target product, 1-nitro-2,4-m-dibenzyl thiol, is obtained.
