Adducts of the bidentate ligand bis(1-pyrazolyl)methane, L-L, have been obtained and characterized through analyses, spectral (IR, 1H and 13C NMR) data, conductivity and molecular weight measurements.Chelating behaviour is likely in (L-L)MX2 (M = Zn, X = Br, I, ClO4; M = Cd, X = Cl, OAc), (L-L)2MX2 (M = Zn, X = trifluoroacetate; M = Cd, X = Br, I, trifluoroacetate), (BF4)2, (ClO4)2.A bridging type of bonding is certainly present in X2Zn(L-L)ZnX2 (X = Cl, AcO) and is likely to be present in the binuclear species (BF4)2.
