Reaction of with K2 or PtCl2 (2:1) yields the complex .It reacts (i) with monodentate ligands L (PPh3, AsPh3, or pyridine) (1:1) to give complexes of the type or (ii) with monodentate L (PPh3, AsPh3, pyridine, or CO) (1:2) or bidentate ligands L2 (1:1) to give complexes .The crystal structure of shows both chelating and monodentate o-nitrophenyl groups. They show no significant differences in the bond lengths Pt-C and N-C.The co-ordinated oxygen atom has a longer N-O bond length than the unco-ordinated one , cf. those in the unco-ordinated o-nitrophenyl group .
