Two new bioactive metabolites 1a and 2a (dinemasones A, B) were isolated in pure form and one as the diacetate 3b of dinemasone C (3a) from the ethyl acetate extract of Dinemasporium strigosum together with the known palmitic acid, ergosterol and the cis and trans isomers of 4-hydroxymellein. The structures were determined by spectroscopic analysis, notably 2D NMR techniques. Their absolute configurations were established by both their carbonyl n-π* CD transitions and the exciton chirality method of their respective dibenzoate derivatives. The dinemasones A, B (1a and 2a) showed antibacterial, antifungal, and antialgal activity. Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, 2008.
