INTERMOLECULAR CHARGE-TRANSFER COMPLEXES OF ARYLTHIOUREA DERIVATIVES

Intermolecular charge-transfer complexes between arylthiourea derivatives and tetracyanoethylene in methylene chloride at 25 deg C have been studied spectrophotometrically in the visible region.The spectral data indicate that the complexes are weak and the moiety is responsible for complexation with tetracyanoethylene.Job's method shows that the stoichiometric ratio of the complexes is 1:1.The ionization potentials of the donors were calculated from the energy of charge transfer transitions.
