5,5'-Methylene-bis(salicylaldehyde) (I) and its schiff base (II) with hydrazine hydrate have been synthesized.Group (IV) metal complexes with (I) and (II) have been prepared and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, conductance measurement and molecular weight determination.Molar conductivities of their millimolar solutions in DMSO indicate the complexes to be non-ionic.On the basis of IR spectral studies, an octahedral structure has been proposed for the complexes of (I) and (II).
