Synthesis and anti-HIV activity of new 6-thioarylpyrimidines and related compounds

A series of new 5-nitro- and 5-amino-6-arylsulfanyl-1-propyl-1H-pyrimidin- 2,4-diones (4-9) were synthesized with the aim to develop new non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs).
