The reaction between difunctional electrophiles and o-phenylenediselenobis-tertiobutylzirconocene (2) leads to new diselenium benzoheterocyclic compounds.In some cases (weak electrophiles), the direct reaction does not takes place and the reagent has to be reacted with the potassium diselenolate obtained from the cleavage of 2 by t-BuOK.
