Full title: Transition-metal-substituted diphosphenes. 12. Transition-metal sulfur ylide complexes. 25. Alkylidene transfer to the P=P double bond of diphosphenyl complexes by means of the sulfur ylides (CH3)2S(O)=CH2 and (c-C3H4)SPh2. X-ray structure analysis of (η5-C5Me5)(CO)2FePC(CH 2CH2)PAr (Ar = 2,4,6-t-Bu3C6H2). The reaction of [(η5-C5Me5)(CO)2MP=PAr] (M = Fe, Ru; Ar = 2,4,6-t-Bu3C6H2) with (CH3)2S(O)=CH2 in THF at 20°C afforded the transition-metal-functionalized diphosphiranes (η5-C5Me5)(CO)2MPCH 2PAr as orange-yellow solids. Similarity the first 1,2-diphosphaspiro[2.2]pentanes were synthesized from (η5-C5Me5)(CO)2MP=PAr and diphenylsulfonium cyclopropanide. The novel compounds were characterized by elemental anaylses and spectroscopic methods (IR, 1H, 13C, and 31P NMR, and mass spectroscopy). The molecular structure of the 1,2-diphosphaspiro[2.2]pentane (η5-C5Me5)(CO)2FePC(CH 2CH2)PAr was established by a complete single-crystal differaction study [P1 space group; Z = 2, a = 8.344 (3) A?, b = 10.772 (4) A?, c = 19.005 (8) A?, α = 92.79 (3)°, β= 91.04 (3)°, γ = 93.69 (3)°].
