The synthesis of cyclic imines 2, β-enaminones 6, and β-enaminodiketones 7 is described.Regio- and stereospecific thermolysis of β-enaminoesters 4 with boric acid permit these preparations in generally good yields. ω-Alkyllactams 3 can be transformed into ω-alkyl cyclic β-enaminoesters 7 which are good precursors of insects venom alkaloids.A stereoselective synthesis of dialkylpyrrolidines and Solenopsine A is described followed by and easy stereochemical determination by 13C nmr.
