A series trivalent rare earth chelates of the type Cl (where Ln=Y, La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy; L=thiophene-2-glyoxal-p-dimethylaminoanil), have been synthesized by direct reaction of ketoanil with rare earth(III)chlorides in aqueous acetone.These chelates have been characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility and i.r. measurements for their bondings and structures.
