Some adduct type hexacoordinated peroxo complexes of thorium with the molecular composition Ti(A-B-C)O2.L -B-C= pyridine-2.6-dicarboxylate or N-(2-carboxyphenyl)salicylideneimine ligands and L= triphenylphosphine oxide, triphenylarsine oxide or pyridine-N-oxide> have been synthesized.The complexes are found to be unusually stable and inert towards oxidation.The electronic nature of the auxiliary ligands L influences the mode of coordination of the peroxo moiety.The ν(O-O) shifts to lower wave numbers with the increase in donor strength af the ancillary ligands.
