The complex compounds formed by the interaction of some N-substituted-N'-(substituted-2-thiazolyl)-thioureas viz.PTtuH, OTTtuH, PTTtuH, ETtuH, PNTtuH, OTNTtuH, PTNTtuH, and ENTtuH with Zn (II), Cd (II) and Hg (II) have been isolated and characterised. The complex have the general formula ML2 (where M=Zn (II), Cd (II) and Hg (II) and L is the anion of one molecule of the ligand) and possess six membered chelate rings. All these complexes are found to be nonelectrolyte by conductance measurements in dimethyl formamide or dimethylsulfoxide. On the basis of the Uv, ir, magnetic moments and molar conductances, the structure of these complexes were assigned and are diamagnetic in nature. It has been observed that these ligands behave as bidentate, chelating agents coordinating through the thiocarbonyl sulphur and thiazole ring nitrogen and not through sulphur atom (cyclic).
