The reactions of diendo (1 and 3) and diexo(2 and 4) hydroxymethylnorbornane and norbornene amines with ethyl chloroacetate gave tricyclic 1,4-oxazepin-2-ones (5,7,9 and 11).Similarly, 3-methyl-1,4-oxazepinon-2-ones (6,8,10 and 12) were formed from compounds 1-4 with ethyl 2-chloropropionate.The steric structures of the new compounds were elucidated by means of 1H- and 13C-NMR spectroscopy.
