Total Synthesis of (+)-Goniothalenol , a Novel Bioactive Tetrahydrofurano-2-pyrone

A novel plant-origin tetrahydrofurano-2-pyrone, (+)-goniothalenol has been synthesized from L-arabinose.The central feature of the present synthesis is a silica-gel catalyzed intramolecular epoxy ring opening by hydroxyl group for construction of the tetr
