Protected precursors of α-NeuAc-(2-->3)-β-D-Gal-(1-->3)-D-GalNAc, β-D-GalNAc-(1-->4)-3)>-D-Gal and β-D-GalNAc(1-->4)-3)>-β-D-Gal-(1-->3)-D-GalNAc, fragments of the Cad human blood group determinant, have been synthesized.
