DETERMINATION OF STEREOSTRUCTURE OF NATURALLY OCCURRING α,β-UNSATURATED δ-LACTONE DERIVATIVES THROUGH A STEREOSELECTIVE SYNTHESIS

The stereostructures of (-)-tarchonanthuslactone (2) and the δ-lactone of (Z)-5,7,9,11-tetrahydroxyhexacos-2-enoic acid (3) were established as 9 and 27 by the stereoselective syntheses of authentic 9 and 26 (triacetate of 3), respectively.
