Usage

General Description

N-(2-chloro-4-pyridinyl)-N'-(1-methylethyl)-urea is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C9H10ClN3O. It is a derivative of urea and is commonly used as a herbicide, specifically as a selective post-emergence herbicide for controlling annual and perennial grass weeds in a variety of crops. It works by inhibiting the enzyme acetohydroxyacid synthase, which is essential for the synthesis of branched-chain amino acids. This disruption in amino acid synthesis leads to the eventual death of the targeted weeds. N-(2-chloro-4-pyridinyl)-N'-(1-methylethyl)-urea is often found in commercial herbicide products and is used in agriculture to improve crop yield by eliminating unwanted weeds.
