A new chiral masked ketene synthon, R-(+)-ethynyl p-tolylsulfoxide reacts with cyclopentadiene to give two separable diastereomers.Both were transformed very easily in (+)-(1R,4R) and (-)-(1S,4S) dehydronorcamphor.
