Aerosils covalently linked by azo and disulfide groups to the interface were prepared in order to gain information on an electron transfer/distance relationship in electroreduction processes (and with other reducing agents).The model compounds A-H, J and N were prepared.The modified aerosils A-H and J containing a sufficiently high support density were investigated by polarography and compared with the values observed in homogeneous solution of the analogous compounds (Table 3).On the basis of these experiments it is shown - with some reservation - that electrons surmount distances of 10-15 Angstroem.
