Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:MESNA-D4 (MAY CONTAIN UP TO 10% DISULFIDE) is used as a protective agent for the bladder wall against the harmful effects of some cancer-fighting drugs, such as cyclophosphamide or ifosfamide. It reacts with urotoxic metabolites of these drugs, like acrolein, to form stable, non-urotoxic compounds, thus preventing bladder toxicity without interfering with the antitumor activity of the antineoplastic drugs.
