SYNTHESIS OF 1,4-BENZODIAZEPINES AND QUINAZOLINES BASED ON CROWNED o-AMINO KETONES

Cyclization of the o-amino ketone derivatives of dibenzo-18-crown-6 ether gave the corresponding crown-annelated 1,4-benzodiazepines and quinazolines. 1,4-Benzodiazepines containing the macrocyclic ring were obtained from the initial o-amino ketones and the acid chloride of glycine hydrochloride or bromoacetyl bromide followed by treatment with ammonia.A convenient method for the synthesis of the quinazolines is cyclization of the o-amino ketones in formamide.
