The Fischer cyclization of 1,2,3-oxoalkylphosphonates arylhydrazones into indole phosphonates 1-5 is described.The corresponding phosphonic acids 1'-5' are also prepared.The structures of these indoles have been determined by 31P, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy.
