N-substituted cis- and trans-2-hydroxymethylcycloalkylamines (1-4), cis- and trans-2-hydroxymethyl-4-cyclohexenylamines (5,6) and diexo- and diendo-3-amino-2-hydroxymethylbicyclo heptanes (7,8) have been prepared by the rection of the corresponding stereoisomeric N-unsubstituted 1,3-aminoalcohol with ketones and subsequent sodium borohydrate reduction.
