Lithium tetraborate trihydrate, also known as lithium borate, is a chemical compound with the formula Li2B4O7·3H2O. It is a white, crystalline solid that is soluble in water and has a melting point of around 920°C. Lithium tetraborate trihydrate is commonly used as a fluxing agent in the production of glass and ceramics, as well as in laboratory applications for the preparation of borate fusion samples for X-ray fluorescence analysis. It is also utilized in the manufacturing of specialty glasses and in certain nuclear applications. Additionally, lithium tetraborate trihydrate has been studied for its potential use in the treatment of different types of cancer due to its role in enhancing the effectiveness of certain chemotherapeutic agents.
