SYNTHESIS OF AZAPSORALEN DERIVATIVES

Chilin, Adriana,Rodighiero, Paolo,Pastorini, Giovanni,Guiotto, Adriano

, p. 513 - 516 (2007/10/02)

A number of new isosters of psoralen, in which the benzene ring of psoralen is substituted by a pyridine ring (azapsoralens) have been synthesized. The syntheses have been performed starting from the appropriate 7-hydroxypyranopyridin-2-one in which the furan ring was built.Several derivatives in which an additional cyclohexene or benzene ring is condensed to the furan moiety have also been prepared.A remarkable increase of the extinction coefficient for the absorption in the UV-A region may lead to an improvement of the photoreaction between the intercalated drug molecule and DNA.
