The previously unknown glycidyl N-(2-vinyloxyethyl)carbamate was obtained by the reaction of 2-vinyloxyethylamine with 3-chloro-1,2-propylene carbonate followed by dehydrochlorination of the intermediately formed 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl N-(2-vinyloxyethyl)carbamate.When heated above 120 deg C, 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl N-(2-vinyloxyethyl)carbamate isomerizes to 3-(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyloxycarbonyl)-2-methyl-1,3-oxazolidine, the treatment of which with a base leads to the corresponding epoxide.
