The carbonyls and react with the thioketene C11H18S (1) to give the dinuclear, dimeric complexes 2 (3b) and 2 (3c) respectively.Reaction of 2 (3b) with PPh3 yields the substitution product 2 (4), but reaction with PMe3, the mononuclear complex (5) is formed.Trimethylphosphite reacts with 2 (3b) to give the compounds (6) and (7), the structures of which were determined by X-ray crystallography.The reaction of 2 (3b) with bipyridyl (bipy) yields the complex (9), and successive reactions, with H+, then with H-, gives the dimeric enthiolato complex 2 (11).The structure of 11 was also determined by an X-ray diffraction study.
