Phenylthio(trimethylsilyl)methane, phenylthiobis(trimethylsilyl)methane, methoxy(trimethylsilyl)-methane, and methoxybis(trimethylsilyl)methane are deprotonated and the resulting anions are alkylated with electrophiles such as organic halides.
