This invention relates to a compound having the formula: wherein, R1, R2, R3 and R4 are, e.g., alkyl of 1 to 10 carbons or hydroxy,X is, e.g., -O- or -S-,R5 is, e.g., alkylene of 1 to 10 carbons or alkenylene of 2 to 10 carbons,Y is, e.g., -C(=O)- or -S(=O)2-,R6 is, e.g., hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 10 carbons,R12 is, e.g., alkylene of 2 to 5 carbons or alkenylene of 2 to 3 carbons and, n is 1 or 2,which compound incorporates both o-hydroxybenzophenone and hydrazide functional groups. Such compounds are useful as ultraviolet light absorbers and heat stabilizers for plastics.
