Synthesis of some amino-pyrimidines and pyrazolines as potent antimicrobial agents

Base catalysed condensation of ketone (1) with different aromatic aldehydes afforded chalcones (2E)-2-arylidene-4-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-3,4- dihydronaphthalen-1(2H)-ones (2a-j). These chalcones on cyclization with guanidine hydrochloride in the presence of few drops of sodium hydroxide in abs alcohol resulted in the formation of 2-amino-4-aryl-6-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-5,6- dihydrobenzo [h] pyrimidines (3a-j). The cyclocondensation of 2a-j with phenyl hydrazine in the presence of triethylamine in abs alcohol yielded 3-aryl-5-(3,4-dichlorophenyi)-2-phenyl-3. 3a, 4,5-tetrahydro-2H-benzo [g] pyrazolines (4a-j). The structures of new compounds have been established by spectroscopic and elemental analysis. The new compounds have been tested for their antimicrobial activity.
Synthesis and antimicrobial activity of some pyrimidine-2-thiones and quinoline-3-carbonitriles

A new series of (2E)-2-arylidene-4-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-3,4- dihydronaphthalen-1 -(2H)-ones (2) were prepared and treated with thiourea in abs alcohol to yield 6-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-4-aryl-3,4,5,6-tetrahydrobenzo [h] pyrimidine-2 (1H)-thiones (3). The reaction of (2) with cyanoacetamide in the presence of piperidine in abs alcohol yielded 6-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-2-oxo-4- phenyl-1,2,4a, 5,6,10b-hexahydrobenzo [h] quinoline-3-carbonitriles(4). The structures of new compounds have been established by spectral and analytical data. The new compounds have been tested for their antimicrobial activity.
