Description of the first synthesis of (+)-makassaric acid, an important kinase MK2 inhibitor. The key step was a Barton/McCombie radical deoxygenation. (+)-Makassaric acid has been synthesized from (-)-sclareol, through a Barton/McCombie reaction.
