The invention discloses a fluorescent probe for detecting copper ions and mercury ions, a preparation method and application thereof. The preparation method of the fluorescent probe comprises the following steps of: mixing rhodamine B hydrazide, 4-diethylamino-2-vinyloxybenzaldehyde and ethanol, carrying out reflux reaction for 3-6h at the temperature of 90-110DEG C, and conducting column chromatography separation to obtain a light yellow solid, namely Probe-1; the fluorescent probe disclosed by the invention has a double-recognition function, can be used for respectively detecting mercury ions and copper ions, and can give out a third fluorescent response signal under the coexistence environment of the copper ions and the mercury ions.

A dual–function fluorescent Probe 1 has been synthesized conveniently by coupling rhodamine hydrazone with O–vinyl protected hydroxyl benzaldehyde. Probe 1 was a highly selective and sensitive chemodosimeter for Hg2+ through specific hydrolysis reaction of vinyl ethers with significant fluorescence quenching in CH3CN–PBS buffer (3:7, v/v) solution. Meanwhile, Probe 1 showed a ratiometric fluorescent detection of Cu2+ with a remarkable large Stokes shift (150 nm) by the opening of the spirolactam ring in CH3CN–PBS buffer (3:7, v/v) solution. Hence, the two recognition mechanisms realized well by using a single fluorescent probe. Moreover, Probe 1 could be efficiently applied to the combinatorial logic circuit of NOR and INHIBIT gates through the procured spectral results, respectively.

Upon the addition of Hg2+ in pure aqueous media, the Hg2+-mediated hydrolysis of vinyl ether and subsequent cyclization reactions converted probe 1 into the corresponding iminocoumarin dye, which is strongly fluorescent when excited.
