Novel polymethylene derivatives of nucleic bases containing a phenylketo functional group at the ω-position were synthesized by the alkylation of uracil, thymine, cytosine, hypoxanthine, adenine, and N-isobutyrylguanine with ω-chloro-l-phenylalkan-1-ones and their physicochemical properties were studied.
