Synthesis and biological activity of some cinnolinothiazoles

Several 2-substituted anilino-4-(6-chloro-1H-cinnoline-4-one) thiazoles HBr (3a-I) were synthezied. 3-Acetyl-6-chloro-1H-cinnoline-4-one 1 was brominated using phenyltrimethylammonium tribromide (PTT) as selective a-brominating agent to obtain corresponding bromoacetyl product 2 which when condensed with various substituted phenyl thioureas yielded corresponding title compounds (3a-I). They were screened for antibacterial and antifungal activity.
