The 2-acylmethylenehydrazones of 5-aryl-2,3-dihydrofuran-2,3-diones were obtained from the triphenylphosphazine derivatives of α-diazocarbonyl compounds and 5-aryl-2,3-dihydrofuran-2,3-diones.With alcohols they form the 2-alkoxyacylmethylhydrazones of 5-aryl-2,3-dihydrofuran-2,3-diones.The latter undergo acid hydrolysis to the benzoylmethylenehydrazides of 4-aryl-2,4-dioxobutyric acids and 6-aryl-4-hydroxy-2,3-dihydropyridazine-3-ones.
