In this paper, we describe the results of a study of the reaction of diaryl nitrilimines with N-ethylindole (1) and 2-methoxycarbonyl-N-ethylindole (2).The regioselectivity of the reaction is reversed when going from 1 to 2 as it has been spectroscopically and chemically demonstrated.
