The first highly regio-, chemo-, and enantio-selective direct vinylogous Michael addition of 3-cyano-4methylcoumarin derivatives to α,β- unsaturated ketones is described, employing readily available 9amino-9-deoxy-epiquinine as the iminium organocatalyst.
