Synthesis and antimicrobial evaluation of some new 6-substituted furobenzopyrone derivatives

THE BEHAVIOUR of 2-cyanoacetohydrazide and its cyclic form 3-amino-5-pyrazolinone towards 4-methoxy la and 4,9-dimethoxy lb 5-oxo- 5H-furo(3, 2-g) benzopyran -6-carbox- aldehyde was studied. Also, a series of new furobenzopyrones containing substituted phenylazo1,2,4-triazolo (1,5-a) pyridines at their position-6 was obtained 15, 16(a-i) through the condensation of substituted phenyl azomalononitriles 14a-i with 2a and 2b, respectively. The antimicrobial activity of the prepared compounds was also tested. The antimicrobial activity of the synthesized compounds compared with the reference drugs Nalidixic acid and Nystatin was studied.
