The reaction of trans-4-alkyl-2-methylcyclohexane-1-carbonyl chlorides with 4-substituted phenols gave the corresponding esters.Investigation of their characteristics showed that they form a liquid-crystalline phase in a narrower range of temperatures than the analogous esters of trans-4-alkylcyclohexane-1-carboxylic acid.
