Poly(oxy-1,2-ethanediyl), .alpha.-undecyl-.omega.-hydroxy-, branched and linear, also known as PEG-11 undecyl ether, is a polyethylene glycol ether compound. It is a mixture of branched and linear polymers that are used as emulsifiers, surfactants, and solubilizers in various cosmetic and personal care products. PEG-11 undecyl ether has a hydrophilic, or water-attracting, polyethylene glycol chain and a lipophilic, or oil-attracting, undecyl chain, making it suitable for use in both oil-in-water and water-in-oil emulsions. It is also used in pharmaceutical and industrial applications as a solubilizing agent and stabilizer.
