The 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of carbonylylides, generated during the thermolysis of the α-oxides of 2-(4-R-phenyl)methylene-1,3-indanediones (R = H, Me, Cl, NO2), to cyclohexene, norbornene, norbornadiene, 9,10-dimethoxycarbonyltricyclo2,5>deca-3,7-diene, and benzobarrelene takes place stereospecifically.The reactivity of the carbonylylides decreases in the order: Me H Cl NO2.
