Ammophos is used as a fertilizer for providing essential nutrients, such as nitrogen and phosphorus, to plants. The two grades of ammonium phosphate, one containing 11% nitrogen and 48% phosphorus (as P2O5) and the other containing 16.5% nitrogen and 20% phosphorus (as P2O5), help in promoting plant growth and development. The first grade of ammophos has a theoretical lime requirement of 5 kg of calcium carbonate per kg of fertilizer, indicating its acid-forming nature, which can be beneficial for soil health and plant nutrition.
