Usage

General Description

Europium Oxide, also known as Europia, is a chemical compound with the formula Eu2O3. It is a sesquioxide and is pinkish-white in color. It is one of the most reactive among the rare earth oxides and doesn’t dissolve in water. However, it easily dissolves in mineral acids. Europium Oxide is primarily used as a red phosphor in television sets and fluorescent lamps. It is also used in creating lasers and amplifiers. Overexposure to Europium Oxide can be harmful and precautionary measures should be followed when handling this chemical. It can cause skin and eye irritation, and potential respiratory tract irritation if inhaled.
