Effect of the type of molecular nonplanar structure on the chemical reactivity of NH bonds in the coordination center of porphyrin molecule
Berezin,Mal'Tseva
, p. 845 - 851 (2009)
Effect of out-of-plane screwing of the porphyrin macrocycle (H 2P) by means of tetra-meso-substitution and intracyclic N-substitution on the state of NH bonds in the molecule is explored. By applying 1H NMR, kinetic and quantum-chemi
Effect of the d-metal nature on the complexation kinetics of N-methylporphyrins
Berezin,Mis'ko
, p. 1354 - 1358 (2008/10/08)
The kinetics of complexation of N-methyloctaethylporphine (H(N-Me)OEtP, I) and N-methyltetraphenylporphine (H(N-Me)TPP, II) with Cu(II), Cd(II), and Co(II) acetates in DMSO was studied. The reaction of I with CuAc2 occurs almost instantaneously; it is 100 times faster than the reaction with CoAc 2. A reaction with NiAc2 does not take place at all. The complexation rates under comparable conditions are always higher for compound II than for I (by about an order of magnitude); this is due to the electronic effects of peripheral substituents in the porphyrin molecule. The difference between the patterns of the electronic absorption spectra of N-substituted porphyrins and unsubstituted porphyrins attests to changes in symmetry and in the π-electron conjugation system in these molecules upon the introduction of a metal ion.
