We show here that non-network metallopolymers can possess intrinsic microporosity stemming from contortion introduced by metallocene building blocks. Metallopolymers constructed from ferrocenyl building blocks linked by phenyldiacetylene bridges are synth

Fluorescent conjugated polytriazoles (FCP 1-4) containing both 2,5-diphenyl-1,3,5-oxadiazole (OXD) and 1,2,3-triazole moieties in the main chain were synthesized from aromatic diazide (1) and dialkynes (2-5) via click polymerization, respectively. In the polymers, OXDs (fluorophores) and triazole rings (generated via CuAAC acting as metal ion ligands) comprise a fluorescent system. The polytriazoles displayed relatively strong emission with quantum yields in the range of 0.20-0.28 at room temperature in DMF. The study on their ion-responsive properties showed that, although all four FCPs have good selectivity for Ag+, the integration of alkoxy side groups (methoxy for FCP 2, hexyloxy for FCP 3 and 2-ethylhexyloxy for FCP 4) to the main chains of the polytriazoles decreased their sensitivity for Ag+via alteration of the polymer aggregation status and electron density of the main chains. Thus FCP 1 is highly sensitive for Ag+, where its Ksv is as high as 1.44 × 105 M-1 and its lowest detection limit is in the ppb range (4.22 × 10-7 M). This study provides an efficient click approach to the synthesis of a novel fluorescence sensor for Ag+ detection, which could expand the application of click polymerization in designing fluorescence sensors based on the triazole unit. Chromophores ranging from simple small molecule π-conjugated systems comprised of phenylene ethynylene or fluorenylethynyl units to cross-conjugated Bunz-type cruciforms have been derivatized to include 1,3- bis(dimethylaminomethyl)phenyl moieties. The photophysical responsiveness of these diamino-substituted chromophores to metal ions has been examined. Both emission enhancement (turn-on) and ratiometric fluorescence detection of Cu 2+ and Zn2+ ions have been achieved in THF.

supporting information; experimental part, p. 14267 - 14273 (2010/02/15)
Highly fluorescent conjugated polymer nanoparticles were prepared directly by polymerization in aqueous miniemulsion, employing Glaser coupling polymerization as a suitable step-growth reaction. A 4,4′-dinonyl-2, 2′-bipyridine-modified catalyst was found to be suited for the polymerization in the aqueous heterophase system. Nanoparticles of poly(arylene diethynylenes) (arylene = 2,5-dialkyoxy phenylenes and 9,9′-dihexyl fluorene) with molecular weights in the range of Mn 104 to 105 g mol-1 and with sizes of ≤30 nm, as observed by TEM, result. N,N′-Di(4-ethynylphenyl)-1,7-di[4-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl) phenoxy]-perylene-3,4:9,10-tetracarboxdiimide or 2,7-diethynylfluorenone was converted completely during the heterophase polymerization to afford colloidally stable nanoparticles of poly(arylene diethynylenes) with 0.1-2 mol % covalently incorporated perylene dye and 2-9 mol % of covalently incorporated fluorenone dye, respectively. Fluorescence spectroscopy of the aqueous dispersions reveals an efficient energy transfer to the dye in the nanoparticles, which enables a variation of the luminescence emission color between red (λem (max.) ca. 650 nm) and the green emission of the nanoparticles without dye.
[(3-Cyanopropyl)diisopropylsilyl] acetylene, a more stable analogue of [(3-Cyanopropyl)dimethylsilyl]acetylene
Gaefke, Gerald,Hoeger, Sigurd
experimental part, p. 2155 - 2157 (2009/04/04)
The preparation and application of a new alkyne protecting group is presented. The reactivity and stability of [(3-cyanopropyl)diisopropylsilyl] acetylene is similar to that of the well-known (triisopropylsilyl)acetylene. Its high polarity simplifies chromatographic separation after coupling to aromatics with more than one reactive site. Moreover, compounds with more than one [(3-cyanopropyl)diisopropylsilyl]acetylene group are easily purified after partial deprotection. Georg Thieme Verlag Stuttgart.
